The occupational survey estimates what a job pays. Payroll records count what employers actually reported. In the fourth quarter of 2024, private home health care services employers in St. Louis County reported an average weekly wage of $763 across 5,023 jobs at 242 establishments.

The metro is 15 counties. 409 establishments in the industry across all of them, and 7 counties clear the confidentiality rules with a wage attached. 3 counties have establishments on the books but their figures are withheld. 5 counties report none at all.

Small counties swing hard. A county with three employers can post a weekly wage far above St. Louis County's, because a handful of payrolls is not a labor market. Read the establishment count before you read the wage.

Methodology

Universe: every county in the St. Louis, MO-IL metropolitan statistical area, area 41180, as delineated by the Office of Management and Budget in July 2023 and published in the Census Bureau's delineation files. That is 15 counties, listed here whether or not they have data.

Metric: average weekly wage, the avg_wkly_wage column, private ownership, own_code 5, industry NAICS 621610, home health care services. Employment is the third month of the quarter. Sorted by average weekly wage where it is published, then by establishment count.

Suppression: where the disclosure code is set, BLS withholds employment and wages to protect employer confidentiality. Those cells read not disclosed. They are never rendered as zero and never averaged into anything. Counties with no reported establishment read none reported. The metro-level roll-up is itself withheld, at 409 establishments, so no metro average weekly wage is available to print.
